Unati Bamboo Mission

12 local families have been trained, and around 12-15 people
are regularly enrolled in designed course

Youth from various communities have been trained in bamboo handicraft and hut making in a dual training program for Carpentering in collaboration with ITI Talwara. The Trainees are trained parallelly at ITI and Bamboo unit. A team of trainers from the North-East has been appointed for the training and development.

Unati also initiated its work on Bamboo under the World Bank funded National Agriculture Innovation Program (NAIP), a project in collaboration with the Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University.

Unati takes care of two reserve forests namely: Vrindavan and Mankaranpur to make Talwara a bamboo hub.

Additionally, in collaboration with the Forest Department of Punjab, Unati also operates the COMMON FACILITATION CENTRE FOR BAMBOO at the village Bhatoli.

Plantation drives have been undertaken of the beneficial species of bamboo in the region such as bambusa tulda; bamboo, dendrocalamus hamiltoni; magar baans; bambusa balcoa; balcoa bamboo and the like.
