Rural Milieu Accelerator
Unati’s Rural Milieu Accelerator (RMA) initiative strives to provide a unique centralized platform for Cooperative Societies, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and start-ups to propel their social enterprises and innovations forward. In partnership with the Punjab State Council For Science & Technology (PSCST), the primary objective of this endeavour is to empower rural communities and bolster emerging businesses focusing on various aspects of rural collaboration and development.
For over two decades, Unati has closely collaborated with the Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST). When the Secretary of the Department of Science, Technology & Environment, Government of Punjab, proposed a joint effort to assist and empower grassroots innovators, the RMA initiative was conceived. Leveraging the combined expertise of Unati and PSCST, the RMA initiative offers Infrastructure Support, Technical Assistance, Training, Capacity Building, Branding, Marketing, and Financial aid to startups, farmer producer organizations, self-help groups, rural entrepreneurs, and agribusiness ventures.
Infrastructure Support
The RMA initiative will serve as an integrated platform for establishing primary processors for technologies such as Oil expelling, Atta making, Spice grinding, Millet processing, and other Lagu Udyog food processing technologies. Additional infrastructure support amenities comprise a Fermentation Facility, Pectin Extraction Unit, Juicing Line, Pulping and Dehydration Facility, Packaging Line, Common Effluent Treatment Plant, Quality Control Lab, etc.
Technical & Training Support
The RMA facility will function as a central hub for providing comprehensive training and capacity building. It will engage various technical institutions like Punjab Agriculture University, IIT Ropar, CSIR-IHBT, CIPHAT, GADVASU, NCUI, NCOL, and BSSL for technology support, transfer, and training on a unified platform.
Aligned with sustainable goals, Unati’s primary objective through the RMA initiative is to fortify the rural economy. As part of this endeavour, Unati has secured land and operationalized a Pectin Processing Facility in collaboration with the Center of Innovative and Applied Bioprocessing (CIAB). Additionally, Unati is currently operating a Primary Agri-Processing Center in collaboration with Punjab Agricultural University.
