Unati Gur Initiative
Unati has developed a scientifically optimized process to manufacture jaggery. The ten-year research on Jaggery has led to the production of high quality jaggery with increased shelf life, good storage capacity, and less hygroscopy. Most importantly, jaggery is made by processing of the sugarcane juice without the use of harsh chemicals.
Unati recognized jaggery as a highly nutritional food and strategically positioned it for retail in Apollo pharmacies. In one year time span, Unati has processed 20MT of sugarcane for optimization of the process for making jaggery. In collaboration with Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana, Unati has imparted hygienic and scientifically sound training to 800 farmers on the production of jaggery.
