Unati Skill Development Mission

Unati, to overcome the scarcity of a skilled manpower in the Kandi Area initiated the Skill Development Mission in collaboration with the Government of Punjab.

Unati in association with Punjab Technical Education Department runs the skill development course, in which annually 45 students are trained in the Unati Processing/Manufacturing facility.

The vision of this program is to generate skilled manpower in Fruit and Vegetable processing from Kandi area of Punjab, where very limited employment opportunities are available for the local community. The 60% of manpower in Unati is certified by ITI.

The Program is successfully running since 2015 and has been linked to the other two Missions running in Unati:

1. Unati Bamboo Mission under dual training program with the government ITI where students pursuing Carpenter learning are trained in the Unati Bamboo Mission workshop. Under this mission, bamboo tree guard made from the local bamboo, worth Rs 12 lac are manufactured and supplied to the Forest department and NGOs

2. Unati in collaboration with the Food Craft Institute (established under the Ministry of Tourism), started 3-month skill development program for the local youth in cooking and street food vending.
